Catherine Chia

Catherine Chia is a PhD candidate in the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group of the Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, and at the Dermatology Department of the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. In 2014 she studied Biomedical Engineering (neuropathology) at the RWTH Aachen and in 2023 Bioinformatics and Systems Biology at a joint degree offered at the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Between these two master programs she worked and co-founded a startup focusing on medical image processing and medical 3D printing. Later in 2023 Catherine joined the Computational Pathology Group, where she works under the supervision of Geert Litjens on deep learning in histo-genomics for identifying image and molecular biomarkers for one of the most deadly skin cancer types.
