COMPAYL++ workshop at MICCAI 2026
On September 27, 2026, Salma Dammak and Francesco Ciompi co-chaired the COMputational PAthologY and multimodaL data (COMPAYL) workshop at MICCAI 2026 in Strasbourg, France. The workshop was organized by an international team that included Khrystyna Faryna; Alana Lopes (Western University, Canada); Sara P. Oliveira (NKI, the Netherlands); Hao Chen and Guo Zhengrui (HKUST, Hong Kong); Han Li, Nassir Navab, and Peter Schüffler (TUM, Germany); and Joe Yeong (A*STAR, Singapore).
For the first time, COMPAYL took place as a full-day event named COMPAYL++, bringing together a computational pathology challenge, an ESDIP tutorial, and the COMPAYL workshop. The program featured keynote talks by Yuri Tolkach, April Khademi, and Pierre Moulin, alongside challenge presentations, oral presentations, poster sessions, and paper and challenge awards.
The workshop welcomed research on computational pathology, both as a standalone field and in combination with other modalities, including language, omics, radiology, spatial transcriptomics, and spatial proteomics. It also highlighted work on the clinical translation and validation of computational pathology methods, with a particular focus this year on agentic AI in pathology and AI in toxicologic pathology.
This year, COMPAYL received a record number of 81 paper submissions, of which 51 were accepted, resulting in an acceptance rate of 63%. All submissions underwent a double-blind peer-review process, involving 91 reviewers who provided a total of 258 reviews, with at least three reviews per paper. The accepted papers are available in the open-access workshop proceedings, which will be published in Lecture Notes in Computer Science.
